This blog is for my personal use, but visitors are welcome. I started it as a way to store in one place various passages from my reading that make an impression on me.

The title of this weblog is taken from the title of John Ruskin’s massive and intensely personal Fors Clavigera, subtitled “Letters to the Workmen and Labourers of Great Britain,” written mostly between 1870 and 1878. My appropriation of Ruskin’s title in no way is intended to compare this blog with that great book. It’s merely that I happened to be reading Fors when I started this weblog, and my first post is a quotation therefrom. I have read a lot of Ruskin and will be reading more, so no doubt many more quotations from him will appear here.

To any readers who happen upon this web site, I hope you find a little something of interest or of value.
